We are looking for female shift workers to participate in a focus group!

Purpose

The purpose of this focus group is to more fully understand the main barriers to participating in physical activity that female shift workers face, as well as strategies that could be used to overcome these barriers to determine whether there were any key aspects that were not captured by the quantitative survey data that should be incorporated into the intervention design. Secondly, we would like to gain feedback from the participants with respect to our proposed physical activity intervention prior to implementing it in this population.

You are eligible to participate if you are:

  • Female
  • Age 18 and over
  • Work in occupations requiring work at night at least 5 times per month for at least 2 years
  • Able to understand and converse in English

You are ineligible to participate if you are:

  • Not be included in the study if there is an absence of or inability to provide informed consent

If you are eligible to participate, the study requires one 2-hour visit to the University of British Columbia where you will discuss these topics with other women who work shiftwork. All participants will receive a small honorarium to thank them for their time.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Sarah Neil-Sztramko at sarah.neil-sztramko@ubc.ca or 604-827-1914.
